In episode 136 of “The JoyPowered® Workspace Podcast,” JoDee and Susan discuss how employers can foster work-life integration with leadership experts Debbie Cohen and Kate Roeske-Zummer.
JoDee and Susan start off the episode by discussing an article from The Happiness Index suggesting several things we can do to support our employees in having better work life integration. These include encouraging time off, instituting short breaks throughout the day, asking employees for guidance, and practicing what you preach.
Debbie Cohen and Kate Roeske-Zummer join the show to share their leadership and work life integration expertise. They share stories of how they balanced their life inside and outside of work throughout their careers, and explain the part their employers played in supporting them living their full life.
Debbie and Kate encourage listeners to identify systemic roadblocks and roadblocks that are part of their internal narratives that are holding them back. Individuals should have a role in that, as well, instead of defaulting to the employer taking care of all of it. Have the courage to ask for what you need in order to have the quality of life that you want.
In this episode’s listener mail, a listener asks how much documentation is needed from an internal HR representative if a third party is brought in to conduct an investigation. In the news, a Beamery Talent Index reports that 65% of employees with remote work options feel pressure to work while they’re sick.
