Whether you’re a business leader or an HR professional, it’s important to think about how we’re conducting interviews. Be sure to listen actively and stay present. Ask open-ended questions, and be consistent. Build rapport so candidates feel respected, valued, seen, and heard. Conclude effectively and make sure you get back to every single candidate. Be aware of bias, body language, and how stressed the candidate likely is. Manage time effectively, and ask candidates to go deeper and provide detail when needed.

We asked our network for their favorite interview questions, and we got some great responses. To name a few: “What is something your supervisor or boss has complimented you on?”, “What gives you energy and what takes away energy in your work?”, and “What has been the most constructive criticism you have received?”

In this episode’s listener question, we’re asked about how to get along with people in the workplace you don’t like (or who don’t like you). In the news, JAN’s new “Situations and Solutions” Accommodations Finder allows people to search through real-life examples of job accommodations.
