In episode 45 of “The JoyPowered™ Workspace Podcast,” JoDee and Susan discuss how personal style can build confidence with personal brand and style expert Nicole Busch, owner of Nicole Blair Wear. Topics include why personal style is important, misconceptions around working with a stylist, how style adds to your personal brand, and how knowing your style can simplify decisions.

Personal style is a great way to express yourself and helps with your confidence, but more importantly, you’re a walking resume. You only have one chance to make a first impression! Personal style and personal brand go hand in hand. Like it or not, when you’re out in the world, what you’re doing and how you look is associated with your business.

Nicole shares some common misconceptions around working with a stylist. People feel like they’ll be judged, when the stylist’s job is really to enhance you. She’s not going to throw away all your clothes and insist that you only buy designer. And stylists aren’t only for celebrities – you get dressed every day, too! It’s okay to invest in yourself.

Knowing your style can simplify decisions in getting ready and in packing for a trip. On average, women take 17-30 minutes a day trying to figure out what to wear; if you can easily identify your style and have some go-to outfits (or “uniforms”), it makes it much faster.

In this episode’s listener mail, Mary asks whether she should spend the money for Premium LinkedIn or just stick with the free version. In the news, JoDee and Susan discuss a SHRM article’s suggestion that we ban the word “documentation.”
