ILA DEIB Summit: “Attention Leaders: How You Can Make Workplaces More LGBTQIA+ Inclusive”

Is hanging up a rainbow flag or updating your logo the same as being an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community? According to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, 46% of LGBTQIA+ workers aren’t open about their sexual orientation or gender identity at work because they’re worried about being stereotyped, making people feel uncomfortable, losing relationships with colleagues, and more. One in five LGBTQIA+ Americans has personally experienced discrimination when applying for jobs, and 22% experienced discrimination when it came to equal pay and promotions. That’s why leaders and managers have to take initiative to create change. Inclusion of any kind has to come from the top down and has to be part of everyday life or culture in an organization. This workshop will discuss how leaders can begin to create the necessary changes in cultivating an LGBTQIA+ inclusive culture.
