Writing isn’t just a creative exercise. If you want to become a thought leader or speaker, writing is a great way to display those talents. It can also help you grow your career. If you’re an HR professional or consultant, writing can help you differentiate yourself and leverage more work. And if you’re looking to transition from internal HR professional to consultant, writing can be a great way to make that transition.
If there’s a topic you’re particularly interested in and you haven’t found much written on it, that’s a great opportunity for you to learn more and to use what you learn to make a difference for others and give them a resource. Your writing can also let people know what you think, what your values are, and what your expertise is.
You don’t have to start with a book; you can start with something small, like a post on LinkedIn. Publications are also constantly looking for content, so once you’ve worked your way up to writing articles, you’ll probably find some demand for them.
In this episode’s listener mail, we’re asked about the most important thing HR leaders can do in 2023. In the news, a recent study by Sage revealed their predictions for HR in 2030.
