As more and more organizations start incorporating AI into their daily practices, what do we as business leaders and HR professionals need to be aware of? This episode sets out to answer that question.
There are two major spheres in which AI is helping organizations: getting information more efficiently and enabling personalization. In human resources, you might use AI to analyze performance status, identify trends in your workforce, surface great candidates that have historically not been considered, and more.
Our guest, Josh Tanenbaum is confident that AI won’t take all our jobs, because while AI can quickly gather data and offer predictions, humans are in charge of making decisions about how to address those data and predictions. For example, while AI can recommend who to include in a RIF based on performance data, AI cannot effectively and compassionately fire those people for you.
If you want to convince your organization to use more AI in HR, focus on how you can reduce costs, increase revenue, support business lines and their needs, or improve efficiency. Start with a small subset of your employee base to test it out and measure the results. But make sure you take a moment to ask what you’re solving for. AI may not be the only answer!
In this episode’s listener question, we’re asked how to respectfully cut an interview short when you learn early on that it’s not a good fit. In the news, the average workday in the United States is now 8 hours and 44 minutes, 36 minutes shorter than it was prior to 2022.
