In episode 87 of “The JoyPowered® Workspace Podcast,” JoDee and Susan discuss perks that help attract and retain the best teams. Topics include what kind of perks most companies are providing, what employees really want out of their perks, and the perks employees ask for the most.

JoDee and Susan are joined by Compt CEO and Co-Founder Amy Spurling, who shares some of the popular perks being offered by companies today. In the age of personalization, most of us would like to offer the perks that employees really want, but it can be expensive to do that when many exciting perks ultimately only affect 10% of the team. In an economic downturn, perks won’t go away, because companies will still have to attract and retain the best people, but those perks that only apply to 10% of the team probably will go away, because it’s not a scalable model. JoDee, Susan, and Amy also discuss whether remote work is a perk, graternity leaves, wellness stipends, and the fact that there’s no one perk that makes everyone happy.

In the best practice sharing segment, JoDee and Susan share their advice on being responsive. In this episode’s listener mail, a listener wonders how to work with two difficult bosses when leading up is not enough and the bosses are executives. In the news, our co-hosts discuss the current most common charges filed with the EEOC.
