In episode 146 of “The JoyPowered® Workspace Podcast,” JJoDee and Susan discuss how AI tools are helping companies find qualified candidates faster with Anthony Reynolds and Lindsey Zuloaga from HireVue.
The world has changed dramatically in the last three years, and finding the right talent is harder now than it has ever been. There aren’t enough talent acquisition professionals to really carry the load, so we think using artificial intelligence is something we should all at least be exploring.
AI can provide a fair, unbiased mechanism for candidates to be assessed and enables consistency and efficiency in your process. Things like video interviewing and assessments have become a mainstay for organizations in their hiring practices. And the latest trends have to do with the way you engage with candidates; email doesn’t cut it anymore for many demographics and segments. Using chat and text can help you increase candidate engagement rates.
It’s important to approach the development of AI in an ethical way. An ethical AI platform should be considering things like allowing users to tweak questions and competencies for different jobs, performing research, getting feedback from third parties, and being transparent about what they’re doing and how their system works. This is beginning to be a topic of legislation, too. States like Illinois, New York, and California are bringing in regulation around hiring technology.
In this episode’s listener mail, we’re asked about navigating promotion conversations when you’re disappointed by the compensation being offered. In the news, Hirect, a chat-based hiring app, found that 60% of jobs posted to their platform in Q1 2022 required a high school degree, 29% required a bachelor’s, and 2% required a master’s degree or beyond.
